I’m on the drop and am going teak. Chan (the emu guy) said the bamboo has slightly bigger stage, less mids and less treble, faster bass decay, and more resonance. I’ve also read it’s considered more “relaxed”. I doubt the differences are really noticeable without a bunch of A/Bing over and over though. The 770s are V shaped so in order to emphasize the bass and highs you recess the mids. It's just the way they are. I don't think they're completely lacking, but their signature is definitely not considered neutral or mid centric. There are some good neutral closed backs in that price range though.Oct 14, 2020 · It’s also worth mentioning that the Teak will either have an attachmeed cable or use the rattle prone 3.5 connectors. In addition, the E-MU Teak resolved lower midrange with slightly better clarity. From a timbre perspective, the HD650 performs just a tad better. After some critical listening, I think this is due to the magic of HD650's slightly deeper soundstage. I bought an E-MU Teak and I'm really disappointed.
